Anything Could Happen

Whole Lotta You

The beat, and the sound of instruments sound really refreshing, but I'm not digging the lyrics.

I'm currently listening to...

Artist: Hyuna

Album: Melting
Title Track: Ice Cream
Release Date: October 21, 2012
1."Straight Up" (흐트러지지 마)
2."Ice Cream" (Feat. Maboos)
3."Unripe Apple" (풋사과; Feat. Jung Ilhoon of BTOB)
4."To My Boyfriend" (내 남자친구에게)
5."Very Hot"

I just finished listening to Hyuna's new album, Melting, and there's nothing extraordinary about it. In fact out of all her solos, I like it the least. Cube used the same treatment to her songs just like her past released. They've loaded it of a sexy upbeat title track, a mellow piece, a song with heavy rap, and some songs.(presto, an album was released)

I'm hoping that Cube will give her songs with more substance in it. Anyway, these are the only songs that I like, and never mind the rest.

♫ cream..cream..cream...... ♫ (wtf!)

I'll Show You English Cover

I'm still waiting for StudioSylar's cover for two weeks now, and I can't bear it any longer. Her covers sounds really good and I'm into her heartfelt voice. I'm crossing my fingers that she'll release it today.(wishful thinking)

Here's her preview:

Good thing though I found another cover. I'm very happy. Fantastic work Alina!

Artist: Ailee

Album: Invitation
Title Track: I'll Show You
Released Date: October 16, 2012
01. 보여줄게 / I’ll Show You
02. 폭풍속으로(feat.버벌진트) / Into The Tempest (feat Verbal Jint)
03. 저녁 하늘 / Sky at the Night
04. My Love(feat.스윙스) / My Love (feat Swings)
05. Shut up (feat.Simon D)
06. Heaven

I'm raping the replay button of I'll Show You music video for 30 minutes now. Sadly this is the only song that I like from her album. Most of her songs are about being in a relationship, and scenarios after a relationship which I cannot relate because I haven't fallen in love yet, and never been into a relationship. But her songs are really nice to listen to, and the RnB vibe is consistent to all of her songs.

This sounds really impressive, plus a very empowering lyrics. Ailee, you're smashing, and this is addicting. I really like it.

Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles

Last movie I saw...

Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles (2012)
Directed by: Erik Matti

Dingdong Dantes
Lovi Poe

I'm actually planning to watch this on my own, but not today when I'm expecting to see Looper instead as a movie date for my dad. But things turned out differently, in a rather horrifying but enjoyable treat. Honestly, I was pulled earlier to watch A Secret Affair, and Tiktik was just a second option. Yes, I'd like to see Tiktik as it holds the start of heavy computer graphic visuals in Philippine Cinema, but earlier, if Daddy James let me decide, I might choose Secret Affair in a heart beat because I had thought that its more worth it compared with the risky production of Tiktik. Fortunately, Daddy James insisted for Tiktik, and end of argument.

I was really surprised that there's a lot of people who wants to see this film. I thought that it would only include film enthusiasts, and the likes, and did not expect it to be Sunday's best family movie pick. The second floor of the theater was fully occupied so we have no choice but to settle for the lower floor seats, but wtf, it's half full, and though we hate it, seating in the 4th row was the best option.(massive audience count!)

The film was already starting when we took our seats, and I was hella scared when I look at the screen. I can still remember that very scene, and I don't think that I'll be able to put it off my mind for the following days. Anyway, all of my doubts with Tiktik's venture to this different cinematic approach vanished the moment I laid my eyes on the screen.

I'm totally hands down with the people behind this movie. Erik Matti is genius for writing a very witty yet thrilling screenplay. The lines of the characters, the punchlines, and even the used of "tambay words" suited the flow of the story.Superb! How long did it take him to write this endearing piece? What are his inspirations? I want to ask him those sorts of questions. I'm very much impressed.

I had also anticipated the CG visuals, and I was taken aback because its exceptionally a masterpiece. I was frankly expecting for a poor quality in terms of their graphics and visuals, and knowing that the entire film was taken in a studio did not help to fire me with enthusiasm. But damn, they're visuals are spectacular, the biggest break in Filipino movie industry for 2012. The Editors, Graphic Artists, Graphic Consultants, and everyone in the creative department brought the production in a successful conclusion. I like the opening credits as much as I'm digging the closing credits. I love the slow motion effect on most of the fighting scenes. The Aswangs transformation looks very digitalized but of its highest form. I'm just full of praises with the effects, and the compelling visuals. (applause!)

The cinematographer also did a good job on taking those sharp shots. I like how each and single scenes were taken, and designed to fit in the frame. I also like the used of Tagalog songs, original composition or rendition, as it adds a very Pinoy feel, especially when they played Wolfgang's version of Laki Sa Layaw.(pinoy pride attacks!)

But its the performance that totally convinced me of how marvelous is this film. Dingdong Dantes and Lovi Poe, played their lead parts really well but the stand out performance goes to Lj Reyes(3rd place), Janice De Belen(2nd place) and Joey Marquez(1st place). Joey Marquez undoubtedly nailed his role. He's so hilarious and his timing were spot on.(good job!) I'm very satisfied with this film, and I'm hoping that they'll distribute it internationally. The story was written really well, and is a great mix of horror, comedy, action and romance. It depicts a very Filipino setting with our own values and traditions which only adds to the list of reasons on why are we going to enjoy Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles.

This Means War

Last movie I saw...

This Means War (2012)
Directed by: McG

Tom Hardy
Chris Pine
Reese Witherspoon

"Don't choose the better guy, choose the guy that's gonna make you the better girl." - Trish

Finally! I got of copy of this way back March, but for whatever reason I just can't finish it, not until today. (achievement!)

I did not expect that I'll come to like it. At first, I was hundred percent sure that this would be entertaining, then it changed to I-think-it-has-a-shallow-story phase, and now I'm back with my first impression. It's certainly hilarious, and I'm sold.

The story is very funny and really light that makes it a good pick for lazy weekends. I like how the production was able to squeeze the story in less than two hours with scenes equally distributed to the three leads. The story is fast pace which favors its plot. No dragging scenes just comical. The actors have good chemistry, and characterization is okay. The music scoring, cinematography, or any other technicalities are not extraordinary but they did not do any harm with the production's final output.

In conclusion, I highly recommend it.
